Ever thought you could get a house for less than the price of a new SUV?
This dilapidated Victorian home has hit the market for $49,000 in the southern Mallee Region — which is in dire need of a serious renovators looking for a full-time challenge.

The property — which is the most-viewed listing in Australia last week on realestate.com.au, with nearly 25,000 views and counting — is located in Beulah, a four-hour drive north east of Melbourne.
The project is being described as a ‘blank canvas’, which will require ‘several skip bins’ to remove all the junk.
“It is basically a derelict property … and everything you see comes with it,” the Northwest real estate agent John Hadley says on his video tour of the property.
“Every room has at least one broken window.”
“I think it’s going to sell for the advertised price, even though it needs a tonne of work.”
Despite its state of disrepair, the house does have some basic amenities in place. The water connection is intact, and power and NBN has been connected in the past, although it is currently disconnected. The property relies on a septic system for sewage management.
“I’ve been swamped,” agent John Hadley told Nine when speaking about possible buyers for the home.
“It is best suited to someone who has the skills to go in and do a lot of the work themselves, so they are only paying for the materials.”
This ambitious undertaking requires more than just a few episodes of “The Block” to prepare for.
Potential purchasers should be prepared for the immense challenges, which include termite infestation in parts of the property — and no formal quotes have been obtained for the necessary clean-up.
PropTrack data shows only six properties changed hands in Beulah in the past 12 months. 2021 census data shows the town is home to 312 people, and just 170 private homes.
